Just before Girls Who Run the World came out, Forbes released their “America’s Most Innovative Leaders” List.
It contained 99 men and 1 woman. I wrote a letter to the editor, essentially: “We cannot see such a list again.”
161 CEOs signed on. People like Stella McCartney, Meg Whitman, and Anne Wojcicki.
The Forbes list stunk, but nothing could have teed the book up better.
I met so many girls:
And so many CEOs.
I did a real-life fashion shoot. I was really awkward. Duh.
Barnes & Noble on Fifth Ave. in NYC put up a window display.
Yep, there was a cake:
I did an Instagram Live with Megan Rapinoe and her cool sister Rachel!
My daughters got in on the action.
I did Take Your Daughter to Work Day with Sallie Krawcheck, Mayor London Breed, Priscilla Chan, Task Rabbit’s Stacy Brown-Philpot, a real NASA astronaut…
I visited dozens of schools…
There was swag (I swear the twinning was unplanned)
Even Lhotse jumped on the bandwagon.
